The kit has several working features: radar antenna and laser cannons tilt and swivel. The cargo ramp opens and closes, and the landing gear can be displayed or stowed to "in-flight" mode. Special light kit (which requires two C-size batteries) is included to illuminate the interior, cockpit and rear jets. The laser cannons are also illuminated.
Three seated figures came with the kit: Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca and Han Solo.

One of the problems with this model is that the sidewalls are too high (compared to the model seen in the movies), but a special resin correction kit can be obtained to correct this.
Finished model is over 45 cm (18 inches) long.

Notes

• Kit is based on the ILM model from Star Wars-A New Hope, which had only three legs. Model from The Empire Strikes Back has five legs.
• This Airfix kit is reissue of MPC kit number 1-1925.
